This private sailing and snorkeling experience offers a unique blend of culture, history, and ocean exploration. Launching directly from Polo Beach, you’ll step into the footsteps of ancient Hawaiians, learning about the craftsmanship, navigation techniques, and rich traditions of Hawaiian sailing canoes.

As the gentle Wailea breeze fills the sails, you’ll glide across crystal-clear waters, taking in breathtaking views of Maui’s coastline. Dive into the ocean for an unforgettable snorkeling session where you’ll swim alongside sea turtles and explore vibrant marine life. Depending on the season, you might even witness the awe-inspiring sight of humpback whales breaching in the distance. With juice, water, and snorkel gear provided, this experience is as relaxing as it is enriching—a perfect way to connect with the natural beauty and heritage of Hawaii.

Any restrictions to participate?

  • Age: Participants must be at least 4 years old.
  • Health limitations: Not recommended for individuals with serious health conditions or mobility issues.
  • Physical limitations: Participants must be able to board the canoe from the beach and be comfortable in and around water.
  • Experience level: All levels are welcome, including beginners.

Who can you accommodate for?

  • Children: Suitable for children aged 4 and above. All participants must be included in the reservation.
  • Individuals with disabilities: The activity is not wheelchair accessible.
  • Languages: Tours are conducted in English.
  • Pets: Pets are not allowed.

  • Spectators: Spectators are not permitted. All attendees must participate.
  • Photo/video: Guests may bring their own cameras for photos or videos. Waterproof cameras are recommended.
  • Specific rules to follow: Smoking is not allowed. Follow the instructions of the guides for safety.

How to prepare?

  • Weather dependency: This is an outdoor experience that operates rain or shine. Severe weather may result in rescheduling or cancellation with options for refund or reschedule.
  • Arrival: Plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled start time at Polo Beach in Wailea, Maui.
  • Parking: Parking is available near Polo Beach. Details are provided upon booking.
  • What to wear: Swimwear, along with a hat and sunglasses for sun protection.
  • What to bring:
    • Reef-safe sunscreen
    • Waterproof camera (optional)
    • Towel
    • Light jacket if prone to getting cold
  • Restrooms/lockers/changing rooms: There is a lockbox available on the beach to store small personal items like keys or wallets.

Anything else to know before going on this experience?

  • Participants will launch the canoe directly from the beach, as was done in ancient Hawaiian tradition.
  • Whale sightings are seasonal and depend on the time of year.
  • This tour provides a blend of cultural education, adventure, and relaxation along Maui’s picturesque coastline.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 24 hours before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 24 hours in advance means losing the value of your experience.
