This tour offers a unique opportunity to see the sunrise atop the stunning Haleakala summit, where the celestial spectacle illuminates a landscape like nowhere else on earth. With our expert guides, you’ll learn about the area’s ecology, geology, and the rich cultural heritage that makes Haleakala a sacred place in Hawaiian lore.
Itinerary:

  • Pre-dawn departure: Start early to catch the sunrise, with convenient hotel pickup.
  • Haleakala National Park: Journey to the summit, experiencing the changing climates and witnessing endemic wildlife.
  • Sunrise Viewing at Visitor Center: Watch the sunrise from the Haleakala Visitor Center area, offering panoramic views.
  • Breakfast at Mill House: After the sunrise, enjoy a gourmet breakfast with choices suitable for all dietary needs amidst the scenic views of upcountry Maui.
  • Descent through Kula: Observe the unique Silversword plants and possibly spot the native Nene geese.

Any restrictions to participate?

  • Age: All age groups are welcome.
  • Health limitations: The high altitude may affect those with respiratory or heart conditions. Elderly visitors, pregnant women, young children, and those with health issues should consult their doctor prior to touring. Additionally, those who have been scuba diving should wait at least 24 hours before attending.
  • Experience level: Suitable for all levels, but participants should be prepared for early morning travel and cold temperatures.

What to expect on the day of the experience?

  • Duration: Approximately 9.5 hours
  • What’s included: Round-trip transportation from designated pickup points, guided tour narration en route, entry to Haleakala National Park, sunrise viewing, and a local style breakfast at Mill House.
  • Who will be present: A knowledgeable guide will accompany you throughout the tour.
  • Photo/video: Photography is encouraged to capture the sunrise and stunning landscapes.
  • Specific rules to follow: Dress warmly in layers due to the cold temperatures at high altitude.

How to prepare?

  • Weather dependency: The tour operates regardless of weather; however, clear viewing of the sunrise is not guaranteed due to variable conditions.
  • Arrival: Plan to arrive at your pickup location 15 minutes prior to your designated pickup time.
  • Parking: Available at most pickup locations. Exact details will be provided upon booking.
  • What to wear: Warm, layered clothing is essential. Temperatures at the summit can be very cold, especially before sunrise.
  • What to bring: Water, warm drinks, camera, sunglasses, and sunscreen. A hat and gloves are recommended for the cold.
  • Restrooms/lockers/changing rooms: Restrooms are available at various stops. Lockers are available at the visitor center for a small feee.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Unused Experience Vouchers can be returned within 30 days for a full refund to the original purchaser, no questions asked.

If you have any unused Experience Vouchers, you can exchange them for anything else in our marketplace, no matter when. If you choose an experience that's more expensive, you'll need to pay the difference, but if you choose one that costs less, you'll receive a credit towards your next booking.

No refunds are allowed once the experience is booked, but you can reschedule up to 7 days before your experience, for a date within a year of the original booking. To reschedule, contact the experience provider directly. No-shows or rescheduling less than 7 days in advance means losing the value of your experience.
